New Release
Fall is right around the corner and what better way to celebrate than curling up in a cozy chair with a good book! I worked with Turner Publishing to help bring to life Alice Randall and Caroline Randall-Williams's new book, The Diary of B. B. Bright, Possible Princess. It is an enchanting tale of thirteen-year-old orphan Black Bee Bright (B. B. for short) who is funny, quirky, precocious, and adventurous. But B. B. has a secret. She’s captive on an island in “the middle of very tropical nowhere” because she’s forced to hide her true identity as a royally born princess from her parents’ enemies in Raven World. This book was a treat for me because it combines fantasy and adventure in one girl's exciting story of self discovery. I hope you check it out and add it to your library.

Visit www.ShadraStrickland.com to see new work. I am especially excited to share my new drawing section (replacing the old sketchbook section) with location drawings and visual journalism from Baltimore, and a month long teaching trip in Sao Tome, Africa. I have also updated my portfolio section. Last but not least, you can find a few new pieces of art and some prints for sale in my etsy shop.

Original Art
Congratulations and many thanks to the Auburn Avenue Research Library for their recent acquisition of two (of my favorite) original pieces of art from A Place Where Hurricanes Happen, “The Flood” and “Window”. I am excited and honored to have my work included in this collection so that other students and lovers of art can access it.
